Feed the birds

Mommy has been wanting to put a Hummingbird feeder up for the past 2 years. This year, we finally did it!

We put it up on Saturday and as of the following Tuesday we hadn't seen a single piece of evidence that the feeder had fed any of our little fluttery-winged friends. We would watch and watch and the birds showed no love. We were getting very impatient anxious to see some birds, so we put a call into the ever-so-wise Gammy. Thanks to some wonderful advice, Mommy added a touch of red bling to the feeder and VOILA...the next day we had birds! We think we have either 2 or 3 feasting on our sugar water.

It took a couple days to get evidence of one of our sweet little friends feeding (those rascals are quite skittish and quickly fly away at the sight of Mommy approaching with her big black camera lens), but finally today, Mommy got it! It's not a great picture because it's been taken through a window screen and not quite the "garden view" that Mommy was hoping for, but how incredible is it to know that this little guy now relies on us for his nourishment!?! We think it's pretty awesome!

Addison, your Gammy is very wise. We encountered the same problem with ours! Joe ended up hanging it way away from the house hoping it would help. I am going to tie something red on it first thing in the AM!! We played the waiting and bird calling game as well, to no avail...

Addison, Wait until you come visit Aunt Ri's house. She has a bird feeder that is in the tree that luckily came with the house. :)
