Chase - 6 months

Peek-a-boo. Someone is 6 months. Guess who?!

I don't know where the last 6 months have gone! Chase has really blossomed this last month. He is mastering sitting on his own, though I still can't really leave him alone because if he gets excited, he throws himself backwards! He's not much of a roller anymore - actually never really has been. His doctor is completely fine with it - he said the pediatric world doesn't even view it as an important milestone. He's known kids who are walking by 10 months, having NEVER rolled. He also thinks a big factor is Chase's temperament. I have to agree. I think he's perfectly content just sitting there watching what's going on around him. He's also probably scared that if he moves too much he might get run over by his always on-the-go sister! he he

Chase goes down for the night between 6:30-7:30 and wakes up between 6-7, then goes back to sleep until 8:30-10 (usually closer to 8:30-9, except recently...growth spurt maybe?) He takes 2 naps, usually about 2 hours each. He's definitely a sleeper! I've always heard that babies grow when they sleep, so it makes sense that he is.....drumroll.....
19lb. 3oz. and 28 1/2 inches long. This puts him in the 80th percentile for weight and 90th for height. Not bad for a preemie!! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE his chubbiness. Needless to say, he's growing out of his 9 month and 6-12 month clothes and is wearing a lot of 12-18 month already. He is still in size 3 diapers.
Chase is very alert and focused on what is going on around him. He watches me so intently at all times. I swear he is just waiting for me to turn around and look at him so he can flash me his big smile. He is already turning into quite the character and I think he's going to be just as curious as his big sis. Oh joy!!

Chase eats 3 meals a day. Foods he's tried so far are cereal, sweet potatoes, peas, apples, banana and butternut squash. Next up are pears and avocado! We go through a lot of avocado in our house, so it will be nice to include Chase in on the action!

In addition to his regular meals, he also takes 35-40 ounces of breast milk/formula a day. If he doesn't have food or a bottle in his mouth, it's usually his fist, fingers, clothes, or a toy. We think he might be exhibiting early signs of teething because of how he chews on his fingers, but we don't see or feel anything and he isn't fussy at all so we aren't quite sure. Time will tell!

Chase's favorite thing to do is watch his sister play. She is very anxious for them to start playing together! He does love his toys...or at least watching Addison play with his toys! He doesn't really favor anything in particular. He does love when we read books, just like his big sister and has started taking to his Sophie the Giraffe lately.

We love our little Chaser so very much. He is so snuggly and sweet! He is extremely mild-tempered, patient, and easy going. Oh, and smiley. SO.SO.SMILEY. But, that's probably fairly obvious!

P.S. I didn't even attempt the 6 month onesie. I don't think it would have made it past his head!

Peas

Chase had peas today. He still hasn't met a food he doesn't like!

Bounce House

Our neighbors have been entertaining Addison a lot of evenings lately. She's been drawn to their pool and other toys. The other day, they blew up a bounce house and Addison couldn't believe her eyes. She ran over to where I was cleaning up the kitchen proclaiming, "Mommy, Ma-skinzy (Mackenzye) has a bounce house in her yard! Can I go play???????" I replied, "Sure, sweetie. When I am done cleaning up, we can go ask if we can play." Addison squealed, "THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY! THANK YOU, MOMMY! THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME PLAY IN MA-SKINZY'S BOUNCE HOUSE! THAT MAKES MY TUMMY FEEL BETTER NOW!" followed by hugs and kisses to my legs and eventually my lips once I bent down. Dramatic much? HA! And no, her tummy wasn't hurting. She's just so funny. Everytime she wants something unhealthy (suckers, chocolate milk, chocolate anything...), it's because it will "make her tummy feel better." Con artistry already. Yikes!

I couldn't pick what "lemonade stand" picture to include so I just posted them all. She's so happy. I love it!

Me and "Uncle" Anthony

This was before Daddy and "Uncle" Anthony went on a quick 4 (or was it 4 1/2?) hour run to Best Buy. :)

Trampoline

Addison was having a hard time remembering that our furniture was not to be jumped on, so we got her a safer, more appropriate outlet to release some of that beautiful 2 1/2 year old energy. I must say, our little jumping bean is developing quite the leg muscle.

Dinner Entertainment

These pictures were taken at the request of the entertainer, herself. Turns out I gave birth to 2 hams. Chase is never bored, let's just say that! :)

Sitting and Standing

Baby Chase is getting to be so big. He loves to sit and stand while holding onto furniture or someones hands. Will he walk at 8 months like it has been reported his Daddy did? ;)

Addison and today's pickings from the garden

Our garden has been doing pretty good so far this year. We've been enjoying our rosemary and have an abundant supply of basil. I've been making up dinner concoctions using basil, tomatoes and mozzarella at least 3 times a week. We're about to have a huge tomatoes explosion, so if anyone wants any, please come over and help yourself!
Addison is really into the garden this year. She loves to pick the crops and wants to eat them right away. She was begging for green pepper tonight and I finally caved and cut it for her. She really seemed to like it and almost ate all that I gave her...until the last 2 bites when she decided it was yucky. That's a 2 year old for you!

Apples

Chase met apples (golden delicious) today at lunch. I know I didn't really need to include this many pictures, but I couldn't resist. I mean, seriously, have you ever seen a baby this happy to be eating? I swear, he is the hungriest kid EVER!! GOD I LOVE HIM!!
