Talking to Daddy on the phone

What's this you say? I have a phone call?

Here, on this phone?

Oh, Mommy...it's Daddy on the phone.
No way, Daddy. She really said that?

Sorry Daddy, I need to eat the phone now.

Mommy, I'm done talking to Daddy.

8 months old

Sweet baby girl,

Happy 8 month birthday to you! Oh my, 8 months! You are getting to be such a big girl. Mommy and Daddy (and everyone else for that matter) cannot believe that you are the same little peanut we brought home from the hospital just 7 months ago at 4 pounds 6 ounces. You weigh about 19 1/2 pounds now, though we won't have an official weight until we go to see your doctor for your 9 month appointment. You love to eat. Your favorites are oatmeal, sweet potatoes and bananas, though you really like everything we've given you so far. You are very ticklish...especially on your feet, your neck, and your belly. As soon as you see me coming for your neck, you giggle and try to make it so I can't tickle you. You are very smart! You are sitting up and playing with your toys all by yourself now. You are really pushing up on your arms and are starting to move your legs a lot...but you aren't getting anywhere yet! Before long you're going to be crawling and we won't be able to take an eye off you!

You are showing your little personality more and more each day. Lately, you've been coughing for attention! You also kick at your highchair tray when Mommy tries to put it on and smirk like you know what you're doing, you little booger! What you love most (besides your family of course!) are kisses, baths, walks, the swings at the playground, playing with Wrigley, people watching, and sleeping on your tummy. You also love the swimming pool. You are such a little fish! You are getting really good at giving kisses, though they are still quite slobbery. You have the concept down pat, though!

Most importantly, you are a very sweet girl. You are just so lovable, hugable and kissable. You are very mellow and love to cuddle while Mommy reads to you. Your Mommy and Daddy love you so much, sweet angel. We couldn't imagine life without you and look forward to every new day because it's another day we get to spend with you! Thank you for completing Mommy and Daddy's world! We adore you, Princess.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

And now, for the 8 month photos...

Pool Party

Today we went to my Aunt Becky and Uncle Bo's house for a pool party. They're really my mommy's Aunt and Uncle but saying "Great Aunt...and Great Uncle..." just doesn't sound right. My aunt and uncle have the coolest pool ever. They throw lots of parties every summer but this is the first one we've made it to this year. I didn't realize what I was missing out on! I have so many cousins, it's unbelievable. My first cousin, Noah, was there and many other cousins (mommy's first and second cousins). There were more than 20 of us under the age of 13. Talk about a party! I am even expecting a new second cousin any day now. Aunt Mickey is now 3 days overdue! Oh, but she was at the party, of course...just floating around the pool like nothing was out of the ordinary. This will probably be mommy's final first cousin because I think all of mommy's aunts and uncles are done having kids....but then again, they're kind of crazy so you never know! :) Anyway, we had a really good time and I loved my new canopy float that mommy and daddy bought me.

I mean, is this the life or what????

Just taking in the scenery.

Crazy day

Oh my gosh, who wants to hear about our crazy day yesterday? I thought you all might. :)

Okay, so it started at 4:30 in the morning when our security system alarm went off. This has never happened before (except when mommy or daddy forget it's activated and accidentally open a door) so mommy and daddy were very startled. They jumped out of bed and turned on the lights. Then, the security dispatcher called and said that their system showed our basement window had been broken. So daddy went to check it out. There was no broken glass and the windows were still closed and locked. Daddy was confused. In the meantime, I woke up crying because the alarm was sooo loud and mommy was in my room rocking me back to sleep. Mommy put me back to bed and she and daddy were going to go back to bed themselves....until it happened again! I woke up crying again and didn't want to go back to sleep so daddy gave me a bottle and then went to work while mommy tried to go back to sleep. She was kind of scared though and made sure that daddy reset the alarm when he left for work since it was still dark outside. Once mommy and I woke up a few hours later, we went outside to investigate. There were no footprints in the mulch and the windows looked fine. We were beginning to think it was a false alarm just like daddy said. But then you'll never believe what we spotted. Yes, that's right...we caught the suspect who tried to break into our house! We named him Peeping Fred. Mommy didn't call the cops on him because he had his baby with him and mommy is a softy when it comes to babies. So we gave Fred a warning and let him off the hook.

That afternoon we went to the park with Wrigley and mommy's friend, Abby. I was on the swing and Wrigley was just walking around like he usually does. Typically, mommy doesn't worry about Wrigley straying too far....unless there are 2 deer prancing in the woods! Wrigley spotted the deer and chased after them. Mommy was yelling at Wrigley to come back but Wrigley has selective hearing. He just kept running and running. Mommy was scared the deer might hurt him and she was also worried that Wrigley was running through poison ivy so mommy didn't want to have to run after him! Well, there was no choice. Wrigley wasn't coming back so mommy went into the woods and through the thick brush after him. Mommy got Wrigley and brought him back to where Abby was pushing me on the swing. Mommy didn't want to touch me so Abby took care of me while Mommy and Wrigley went home to shower and get any poisonous stuff off them. This wouldn't have been so bad except Mommy was expecting someone to come to the house at 2 o'clock and when we got back there at 1:30, he was already there! So mommy explained that she needed to shower and bathe Wrigley. And as the cherry on top, mommy pulled about 100 burrs out of Wrigley's fur. Oh, what a day. I was so tired from all the excitement that I slept 13 hours straight last night!

Today has been much better, thank goodness. We have been on a walk and went shopping for a little bit. Now, I'm down for my afternoon nap and Wrigley is behaving. Plus it's FRIDAY....that means I get to play with daddy for the next 2 days!!!

Me and Megan

Daddy and mommy's friend from Chicago came to see me last weekend while she was in town for a wedding. All week I kept asking mommy when she was going to put up a picture of us. Finally, she did it! Now Megan can be famous just like me! :)

My new trick

Hey everyone, look what I can do!

Gammy and Poppy's house - Part 2

My last day at Gammy and Poppy's was spent seeing my great grandparents. I never realized I had so many Grandma and Grandpa's. I sure am one lucky girl!

Grandma Ruth came over for a visit after I woke up in the morning (after sleeping 12 1/2 hours, by the way!) It was so nice to meet her. Mommy talks about Grandma Ruth all the time. Grandma Ruth was married to mommy's Grandpa Sacksteder. Grandpa Sacksteder went to heaven before I was born, but he got to meet me when I was in mommy's belly, which mommy is very happy about. Mommy and I pray to Grandpa Sacksteder every night before we go to bed and tell him to give God a big hug thanking him for taking care of us and making us all better when we were both sick. Needless to say, my Grandma Ruth is very special.

After my morning nap,we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Nevius. They are mommy's grandparents. I have met both of them before and actually just saw Grandma Nevius a few days ago. Mommy told me that when she was a little girl, she was at Grandma and Grandpa's house every day. They only lived a block away! She said she learned how to be such a good cook from her Grandma and got her sense of humor from her Grandpa. Grandpa Nevius is so funny. He tells the funniest jokes and stories. When mommy was little, he would trap her in his legs and not let her go. This always made mommy laugh so hard! He taught Mommy how to roll a ball when Mommy was just a little older than me and he also taught her how to whistle. Oh, and he made sure mommy ate her bread crust because that's what makes you whistle!

Sharing my toy with Grandpa Nevius.

Before I had to leave to go home, Gammy took me to the park by her house. As usual, I LOVED the swing.

We also went down the slide for the first time. I liked it, but I'm sure I'll LOVE it, too, when I get a little bigger.

Who do you think had more fun - me or Gammy? Oh, my Gammy is just too cute!
