Purdue

Saturday morning, we headed to campus for some tailgating and the football game against Michigan. But, not before a stop at the Kappa house for a Kodak moment with our future Kappas!

I always have such a hard time deciding which pictures to post, so you're going to get Kappa Kappa Gamma picture overload on this one! Not to mention the fact that my husband failed in the "first take" to get the large sign that we specifically positioned ourselves around so it would be in the pictures....so we had to torture the kids with another round of pictures with the sign!

The day ended up being cold, windy and rainy, which was a huge difference from the day prior and a real bummer, but still fun! We moved everything to the stage on Slater Hill, where it was still cold and windy, but at least dry.

Past and Future Kappas!

At halftime, we decided we'd endured enough of the cold and headed back to our hotel. When we got in the car, Addison asked, "Mommy, when are we going to the football game?" I felt so terrible. We'd been talking about it for weeks and she was really looking forward to going. Next time!

We had an indoor pool at the hotel and Addison (who we'd been calling Addison Hope for the last 24 hours) wanted the other Addison (who we'd been calling Addison Michelle for the last 24 hours) to go swimming with her so we went to Walmart and after failing to find swimsuits (they don't sell swimsuits in Indiana in November!?!?), we bought her a cami and panties and called it a tankini. Addison, who had a swimsuit, wanted a tankini, too, so we compromised and put a pair of panties on over her swimsuit. Just in case you're wondering.... :)

Eventually, Addison Michelle had to leave. It was so sad to say goodbye to everyone.

Addison Hope must not have really understood that her friend, who she now refers to as either "Michelle" or "Michelle Addison", wasn't coming back and when she finally realized this fact, she was very upset. Again, I felt terrible, like I had done her an injustice.

She got over it, but we still reeeeeeaaaaalllly miss our friends and can't wait for our next visit!

OSU and Purdue

This probably isn't news to anyone, but both of our teams (well, all 3 counting Ohio University) didn't make it beyond the sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament this year. I got the kids dressed up in their Purdue and OSU apparel for the big game day. Chase stayed up late enough to see OSU blow it and I was dumb enough to stay up to watch Duke clobber Purdue. Oh well...maybe next year!

Purdue Football

We were supposed to be in West Lafayette this weekend, but our trip was sadly cancelled because one of our friends was sick. We were going to watch the Purdue (my Alma mater) vs. OSU football game while there. I wasn't too disappointed that I wouldn't be making the game because I really didn't care to see what I and everyone else thought) would be a definite loss for our good ol' Boilermakers.

It turned out to be a great game and I was sad to have missed it! Purdue was 1-5 going into the game, with their only win against Toledo...so that hardly counts. Ha ha, sorry Lori. (My sister is a Toledo alum so I had to say it.) My other sister happens to be an OSU alum. Admittedly, I am a Buckeyes fan, as well, but this is the one day a year, I just have to stay true to my Boilers!

Anyway, Purdue was not expected to win this one by a long shot. But, they surprised everyone with a big W! In case you didn't see the game or the final results, let me share....

That's right, baby. Unranked Purdue beat #7 ranked OSU! Seeing the fans rush the field was pretty cool. What excitement everyone there must have been feeling.

I ended up watching a lot of the game by myself, while Dustin sealed the driveway and Addison napped. I was happy to share my excitement with someone, so was happy once Addison woke up, just in time for the 4th quarter.

Apparently, her mother was so engrossed in the game that she didn't notice her poor pup being ambushed by goldfish.
The evidence
"Uh-oh, you caught me!"
"Maybe if I just act cute, you won't even notice that I've piled all of my goldfish on Wrigley."
"Boiler Up!"

"Boiler up, Baby. Boiler up!"

"Go Boilers!"

"Go Purdue!"

Mom: "Who do you want to win - Purdue or Ohio State?"
Addison: "Purdue"
What I won't show you was the video where she responded "Ohio State". How can a girl wearing old gold and black say such a thing? :)

OSU vs Purdue

On Saturday, we had some friends over for the Ohio State/Purdue football game. I wore my Scarlet and Gray but was secretly rooting for Mommy's team, too. The final score was 16-3 (OSU), but hey, at least Purdue got on the board! Thanks for the fun day, Beth, Josh and Robbie!!

Go Purdue...er, Ohio State I mean. GO!!!

Me and Daddy watching the game

Robbie shared his truck with me and let me eat it. Poor Robbie.

Addison, this is how you drive the truck.
Robbie, you play with the truck and I'll check out this motorcycle.
And this one, too.
Oh no, is that Darth Vader crawling up my leg?
Somehow our quiet little party of 6 turned into a rather loud party of 12. Our neighbors saw how much fun we were having and wanted to join us!
