Snow Bunnies

People have been saying that we've had a lot of snow this winter, in comparison to years past. I'm not saying that because frankly, I can't even remember what I ate for lunch yesterday let alone how much snow we got last year. So, I guess I'll take their word for it.

What I do know is that my kids LOVE the snow. Addison seriously can't get enough of it and Chase absolutely loved the cold fluff when he played in it for the first time in his life on this day.

They are my little Snow Bunnies.

Addison showed off her strength by pulling 25 pound Chase around in his sled.

We made snow angels.

And sat on the ground

And posed for the camera

And took off our mittens to feel the cold snow on our skin.

Addison made snow cupcakes - all her idea.

We had so much fun in the snow. Or at least the kids did. The truth is, I'm not much of a snow person. Bundling all of us in layers, trying to take pictures while attempting to keep mittens on a baby and wearing myself out pulling both of them around on sleds for a half hour is not exactly my cup of tea. Once a winter is good enough for me. Unfortunately, I don't think this is going to fly with the kids...especially the older one. :)

I like sledding

The little girl who just a couple weeks ago told me that she was scared of the sled has had a change of heart. Big time. Daddy took her sledding today (while Chase and I watched from the car). She said she didn't want to go when we asked her, but were able to convince her by telling her we'd just make a snowman. Little white lies on occasion are harmless, right? :)

After about 1/2 hour of sledding, Addison and Daddy made their final decent down the hill and came to the car. Addison was in tears. "I don't want to go! More sledding! More sledding!" It turns out our neighbors were there and had some really cool sleds. I guess our little toboggan wasn't good enough. Once she saw the other kids on the sled and went on them herself, she was a changed girl. The neighbors sleds went FAST and she wanted to go all by HERSELF! I guess our sled wasn't DANGEROUS enough for our little dare devil. :)

The problem was that our neighbors were leaving and it was their sled she wanted to ride on. So, we told her we would go get a sled for her and head back to the hill for more sledding. 4 stores later, no sled. Fortunately she was understanding of the situation. The entire city of Columbus is sold out of sleds (we called a half dozen more stores when we got home). We'll definitely have to put this on our list of things to get at the beginning of next season and in the meantime, hopefully our neighbors won't mind us borrowing theirs!

Now, Addison tells everyone who will listen, "I like sledding!"

Thumbs up!

Snow bunny

Addison played in the snow this past weekend with Daddy and Grandpa F. We are getting dumped on again as we speak so I don't think this snow will melt any time soon. Lucky for our little snow bunny!
Hopefully it at least warms up enough for the snow to pack. She loves building snowmen. We call these guys icemen. Dustin had to shovel up chunks of snow and stack them on top of one another to build them.

These pictures break my heart. She told me she is "scared of sled".

She seemed to warm up to the sled by this point
And once Daddy joined her, she was good to go.
She was especially happy riding the sled with Grandpa

Chase's first snow

We had a big snow storm last weekend, accumulating about 8-10 inches of beautiful, pure white snow. These pictures were taken as the snow as falling. I think we were getting about an inch an hour. It was gorgeous and perfect for Chase's one week birthday!

Frosty

Central Ohio began to thaw out last week when temps finally reached above freezing...even getting up to 40! (((heat wave))) This means that all of the beautiful snow that once blanketed and left evidence of the bunnies and deer that traipse through my backyard is almost gone.

As I mentioned in the previous post, my mom was with us this weekend and she and Addison played outside for a while yesterday.

They were able to salvage some of the remaining snow and make a snowman...a first for Addison!

They were very thoughtful to make it right in front of the window by where I have been "resting" this weekend. I think my body might actually be leaving an imprint in the sofa, by the way!

Anyway, I enjoyed watching and snapping pictures, which didn't turn out too bad considering I was photographing through glass and a screen.

Giving Frosty his carrot nose
They used one of Wrigley's scarves. He ended up with 3 arms...
...and 4 eyes. He's a special snowman.
