Sprinkles, Puffs, Sippy Cups and Funny Faces

All day today, Addison was asking me if we could make something with sprinkles. I knew I didn't have any cake mix in the pantry and wouldn't have a chance to get to the store, so I was hoping she would forget about it. She woke from her nap singing about sprinkles and as soon as she saw me, she said, "Mommy, I'm so excited to make cupcakes a day (today)!" Fortunately, I remembered about some brownie mix and we went baking away. I was going to mix up some frosting, but Addison couldn't wait to throw on the sprinkles. I have never met a little girl who loves/talks about sprinkles as much as this one!

Chase ate Puffs and loved them almost as much as Addison loved her "cupcake".

He's doing pretty well with getting the sippy cup to his mouth, but once it's there he sucks too hard and gets a mouthful of water that he is unable to swallow. So, he chokes on half of it and the other half ends up rolling down the front of him.

He's all about this face these days. So cute!

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Yesterday was Grandma's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA! We were lucky enough to have her at our house on her special day. We baked her cupcakes and my star decorator went to work!

Every good baker always tests the food before she serves it!
The sprinkles are by far her favorite part of decorating.

That evening, we had a delicious grilled dinner on the deck and enjoyed those cupcakes we worked so hard at perfecting. :)
As usual, Addison got her very own cupcake with candle to blow out. She is going to grow up thinking that she gets this for everyones birthday!

Just call me Betty

Betty Crocker, that is. Or Duncan Hines, if we're getting technical. Mommy and I baked a cake and cupcakes for Grandma and our neighbor friend's birthdays.

As soon as I heard Mommy say that we were making cupcakes, I went straight to the drawer with the cupcake pans!

Okay, Mommy, I'm ready to make cupcakes!
But, do I have to touch the mixer? It's a little scary.
Okay, I will touch it for one picture.
But I'd prefer stirring with the spatula while you use the mixer.
The mixing was complete. While Mommy was prepping the cake pans, I played with my own dishes, talking about what I was making, but Mommy couldn't understand what I was saying.
After a super-good and quite sweaty (mommy loves it when I wake up smelling like sweat - she's weird!) nap, the cakes were cool and ready for decorating!
I iced the cupcakes.
And decorated them with sprinkles.

Then I iced Grandma's cake.

And couldn't keep that arm out of the way. A smart Mommy would have moved the icing to my other side so I didn't have to reach across my body!
Sprinkles followed.
Lots and lots of sprinkles!

And just a few more for good measure.

The final product. Doesn't it look great? Well, if 3 people going through more than half of it in one night tells you anything....

Singing "Happy Birthday" to Grandma.
And getting kisses in return! I must be a really good baker!
Hope you had a great birthday, Grandma!
