I don't know where the last 6 months have gone! Chase has really blossomed this last month. He is mastering sitting on his own, though I still can't really leave him alone because if he gets excited, he throws himself backwards! He's not much of a roller anymore - actually never really has been. His doctor is completely fine with it - he said the pediatric world doesn't even view it as an important milestone. He's known kids who are walking by 10 months, having NEVER rolled. He also thinks a big factor is Chase's temperament. I have to agree. I think he's perfectly content just sitting there watching what's going on around him. He's also probably scared that if he moves too much he might get run over by his always on-the-go sister! he he
Chase goes down for the night between 6:30-7:30 and wakes up between 6-7, then goes back to sleep until 8:30-10 (usually closer to 8:30-9, except recently...growth spurt maybe?) He takes 2 naps, usually about 2 hours each. He's definitely a sleeper! I've always heard that babies grow when they sleep, so it makes sense that he is.....drumroll.....
19lb. 3oz. and 28 1/2 inches long. This puts him in the 80th percentile for weight and 90th for height. Not bad for a preemie!! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE his chubbiness. Needless to say, he's growing out of his 9 month and 6-12 month clothes and is wearing a lot of 12-18 month already. He is still in size 3 diapers.
Chase is very alert and focused on what is going on around him. He watches me so intently at all times. I swear he is just waiting for me to turn around and look at him so he can flash me his big smile. He is already turning into quite the character and I think he's going to be just as curious as his big sis. Oh joy!!
Chase eats 3 meals a day. Foods he's tried so far are cereal, sweet potatoes, peas, apples, banana and butternut squash. Next up are pears and avocado! We go through a lot of avocado in our house, so it will be nice to include Chase in on the action!
In addition to his regular meals, he also takes 35-40 ounces of breast milk/formula a day. If he doesn't have food or a bottle in his mouth, it's usually his fist, fingers, clothes, or a toy. We think he might be exhibiting early signs of teething because of how he chews on his fingers, but we don't see or feel anything and he isn't fussy at all so we aren't quite sure. Time will tell!
Chase's favorite thing to do is watch his sister play. She is very anxious for them to start playing together! He does love his toys...or at least watching Addison play with his toys! He doesn't really favor anything in particular. He does love when we read books, just like his big sister and has started taking to his Sophie the Giraffe lately.
