Ahhh, springtime in Ohio. A time to get creative with indoor activities. Ha, who are we trying to kid? We've been "getting creative" for months now, thanks to the long Ohio winters! But, it's still fun to post about our indoor activities as if they are few and far between.
On this particular rainy day, Mommy and I went through my clothes from last summer to see if we could salvage anything to wear this year. You see, back when I was gaining 2+ pounds a month and was over 21 pounds at 9 months old, it seemed reasonable that this growing trend may continue. So, at the end of last summer, Mommy hit the sale racks and bought a whole bunch of 18-24 month clothes. After all, I would be 18 months at the end of May...just in time for summer. Most of the clothes in this size are said to fit children in the range of 27-31 pounds.
Let's rewind and do the math. 21.5 pounds at 9 months. I am becoming mobile so probably won't be gaining weight quite as rapidly. So we'll be conservative and say I gain 1 pound a month, going forward, rather than 2-3. No. Let's go even lower. Say 1/2 pound. There are 9 months between now and 18 months old. 9 months at 1/2 pound weight gain per month equals 4.5 pounds. 21.5 pounds plus 4.5 pounds equals 26 pounds. Just under the 27 pound child these clothes are supposed to fit. Perfect, with room to grow. Keep filling those shopping bags with the 18-24 month clothes, Mommy. We've hit gold!
Fast forward to almost 17 months old. 23.5 pounds, soaking wet. So much for the gold.
So, we improvise. We pulled out last summers clothes (many of which are size 6-12 months) and see what we can make work this year. Turns out we find quite a few hidden treasures. We decide to settle for the silver.
Below is one of the outfits that worked. The dress (6-12 month) used to come down almost to my ankles. Now, it hits just above my knees and there is plenty of stretching room. The jeans (12 month) used to be too small in the waist. They literally wouldn't button 6 months ago. Now, the two separates make the perfect combo. SCORE!
Time for the next activity...reading. But today I decided to go up a few levels and try out Mommy's book. It didn't last long.
And we moved on to a game of "Where's Addison?"
Now you see me.
Now you don't.
He he he.
And this activity is growing popularity at record speeds.
Rain or shine, winter, spring, summer, or fall, this is a common sight in our house.
